A Little About Me (and this blog).

I am a passionate writer of stories, an avid reader, a pop culture connoisseur, and a lover of learning things, living in Melbourne, Australia.

At the moment, I’m actively working on two manuscripts (one fantasy, one contemporary), and passively working on a million other ideas in my head. Also currently working through the TBR books I have on my shelf – there’s 295 of them. I know… eek.

This blog will be a bit of a mish-mash of all my interests. Short fiction pieces, book reviews, literary discussions, random ramblings about pop culture, writing advice.

  • My book reviews won’t really follow a formula. They’ll probably be different each time, depending on how I’m feeling.

The way I rate books:

Rating: 5 out of 5.
  • Means I absolutely loved it; it made me cry a lot; I had adrenaline running through me toward the end; I related to one or more of the characters; I will buy a copy of this book (if I don’t own it already); it’s an epic story; the pages flew by; it affected me emotionally for days after; maybe some plot holes but none that I actually care about
  • Means there was nothing wrong with it in my eyes

Rating: 4 out of 5.
  • Means I really enjoyed it; it was interesting and captivated me; it was unique or different; it made me cry; the characters were great; the message was strong; it was cute, or funny, or lovely
  • Means that maybe it took me too long to read it; the world was too dense; the writing was too flowery; it dragged on for too long; probably a few plot holes or storylines I don’t like too much

Rating: 3 out of 5.
  • Means it was kind of meh; just okay; nothing really special or unique; but not super terrible either; the writing is nice and the characters are fun
  • Means maybe the world is a bit thin; the writing is subpar; I’ve seen the characters before, or read the story; there were probably many plot holes; some things made me roll my eyes; nothing very terrible to say, but nothing super exciting about it, either

Rating: 2 out of 5.
  • Means the experience of reading it was basically painful; each page felt like it weighed a tonne as I turned it; the characters annoyed me; the message was either too light or too dense; the world was basically non-existent; the pages drug on and on; the writing was too flowery; nothing really made sense; there was basically no plot

Rating: 1 out of 5.
  • Means I most likely DNF’d it; I haven’t DNF’d many, but before I decide to DNF, I always skim through the entire book to make sure I actually want to DNF; which is why I’m okay with actually rating my DNFs, because I basically read the whole thing anyway
  • Does that make zero sense? Oh well

Basically, my ratings are completely subjective, and I don’t take into account literary themes, or writing ability – not really. It’s mostly based on emotion. Keep that in mind!

Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Hope to see you often.
